Is it possible to have pollution inside my house?

Did you know that the quality of the air even in your own homes can also be polluted? There are a number of factors that can contaminate the air that you breathe in.

From dust mites, pet dander, smoke coming in from the outside to several unwanted smells, these can put a dent in your health over time.

Especially if you have family members who already have respiratory problems such as asthma, ridding your house of pollutants and allergens is warranted.

There is a need to invest in a good quality air purifier for your home. You might be asking yourself, what size of air purifier do I need?

Determining the size of your air purifier

Are you going to place the air purifier in the living room or in the bedroom?

The first order of business is determining the exact location on where you will place your air purifier. Are you going to place this device in your kids’ room or in your big living room that connects to the dining area?

Or maybe you’d want the entire house to smell like peaches and cream? Knowing the approximate size of the room will give you a basic idea on the size of the purifier to purchase.

Get the exact square footage

If the air purifier is to be placed in a small room like that of your kids, you can easily take the exact footage by using a tape measure and get the measurement of the two perpendicular walls.

If you want to use the device in an adjoining room such as your living room and dining area, just take the exact footage of the second room by measuring the perpendicular walls too and add it up with the first measurements.

But if you want your entire house to smell like fresh grass on a lovely spring afternoon, getting the measurements of your entire house is quite easy. Just look for the blueprint of your house when you bought it.

The measurements will be indicated there. Don’t fret if you don’t have it with you can still get the footage of your entire property.

Just take a walk outside, get a little sun on you with your reliable measuring tape and take the measurements of length and the widths of the walls. And there you have it, you are all set.

Finding the perfect match

Now that you have done your homework, it is now time to find the perfect air purifier for those spaces.

Getting the right size will save you a lot of dough. If you’ve got a big space to fill, get a purifier that matches that. Say you have a 200 sq. foot area, your best buy should be around 200 -250 sq. foot area.

But don’t scrimp too much and get a 100 or 80 sq. foot for that size. It won’t be enough to clean the air in that space and you’d just be wasting your money. The rule of thumb is to get an air purifier with the same square foot or one that is a little bit higher.

Don’t get an air purifier that has a very high number compared to your notes, it will be too overpowering for a small room.Getting the exact match will help you and your family stave off allergens that can cause discomfort and sickness.

Hello Kevin, your piece is accurate, and the advice given here helpful. I recently bought the Dyson Pure Cool TP04, and I have noted it doesn’t a 20 X 20 feet room very well. Interestingly, Dyson says that the purification covered for the machine is 400 sq. ft. While I like my Dyson, it feels like the company is a little economical with the truth as far as actual purification coverage is concerned.
